One-On-One Training And A Mini-Grant
HEDI seeks to develop early-stage business owners in the City of Harrisonburg. HEDI offers one-on-one technical training with a business coach and a mini-grant. Spanish language speaking coaches are available.
Eligibility
Businesses eligible for the Harrisonburg Entrepreneurship Development Initiative (HEDI) must meet all of the following requirements:
Must be a for-profit business entity with a place of business located in the City of Harrisonburg (home based businesses in the city are eligible).
Must have a current city business license.
Must have at least $5,000, but no more than $200,000 in annual gross revenues.
Must be able to provide proof of revenue through a 2025 federal tax return or 2026 year to date income statements.
The business is locally owned, or locally operated with headquarters in Virginia.
No late/delinquent taxes are owed to the City of Harrisonburg.
*Previous participants in the HEDI program are not eligible for this round.
The Program
Harrisonburg partners with eqALL (eqall.co) to tap into a nationwide network of business coaches that provide business consulting services to participants on behalf of HEDI.
Onboarding Coach
Services begin with participants meeting an on-boarding coach to discuss the business and identify an area to enhance their skills, such as marketing, sales, financial management, or bookkeeping.
Paired With An Expert
Participants are paired with a dedicated subject matter expert, set meaningful goals, and track their growth throughout the program.
One-On-One Training
Each participant receives a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 hours of one-on-one training. All meetings are conducted virtually, and Spanish speaking coaches are available.

Once participants hit their mutually identified goals, they qualify for a one-time grant of $2,500.
